Privacy Notice

Last updated 11 August 2026

Orbital Blackout is operated by Theodore Armando Gutierrez ("we", "us"), trading as Orbital Blackout. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice and we decide how and why it is processed.

Personal data we collect

  • Account data — email address and login credentials handled by our authentication provider, plus your chosen pilot callsign.
  • Game data — your ships, inventory, levels, resources, research, purchases of cosmetic and booster items, and in-game activity logs.
  • Support data — the content of messages you send us.
  • Technical data — IP address, device and browser identifiers, and basic usage/telemetry needed to run and secure the game.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To create your account and provide the game — performance of our contract with you.
  • To save your progress, apply purchased boosters and cosmetics, and support multiplayer features — performance of our contract.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent fraud, cheating and abuse — our legitimate interests.
  • To improve the game and fix problems — our legitimate interests.
  • To answer support requests — performance of our contract and our legitimate interests.
  • To meet accounting, tax and other legal duties — legal obligation.

Who we share data with

  • Service providers and subprocessors that host our database, run the game backend, and provide error monitoring and support tooling.
  • Paddle.com Market Ltd, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of our products, order processing, subscription management, payments, invoicing and tax compliance. Paddle collects and processes payment details directly — we never receive or store your card data.
  • Professional advisers such as legal and accounting providers, where needed.
  • Public authorities where we are required to disclose by law.

Retention

We keep account and game data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except records we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons. Purchase records held by Paddle are retained under Paddle's own policies.

Your rights

Subject to the law where you live, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, and you may object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below; we respond within one month.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls on our database, and restricted administrative access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data proportionately to its sensitivity.

Cookies and local storage

We use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember game interface preferences. We do not run advertising cookies. You can clear this data in your browser, but you will be signed out.
